This Footprints tour considers MAXIMUM MADNESS through a First Nations lens. It reflects on the dystopian science fiction genre and examines Indigenous themes of re-creation, resilience and self-determination. The tour will focus specifically on the artworks of Robert Fielding (Western Arrente, Yankunytjatjara, Pakistani, Afghan) and Brian Robinson (Kala Lagaw Ya, Wuthathi) and the curation of the MAXIMUM MADNESS exhibition by Jonathan McBurnie (Director, RMOA).
Facilitated by Dr Melinda Mann, RMOA First Nations Arts Officer, tours will explore the importance and power of Indigenous storytelling and storytellers in a genre that has required Indigenous people’s disappearance and the consumption of their lands and resources to fantasise futuristic colonial societies.
