With much sadness Rockhampton Regional Council has announced the sudden passing of the Zoo’s 40 year old female chimpanzee, Samantha.
Samantha was last seen enjoying her dinner and acting normally in the night house in the late afternoon. It was about 20 mins later she was found unresponsive.
In 2020 it was found Samantha had early-stage heart disease expected Samantha died of a heart attack.
